PERSONALITY:
Noé, as some describe him, is a “country bumpkin.” Noé loves the simple things in life — his cat, his friends and the beloved tarte tatin. One would speculate that Noé lived a very sheltered life, given his childlike demeanor, but that is hardly the case. At a young age, Noé was orphaned when his clan was abolished and then adopted by an elderly human couple that did not seem to mind that the young boy was of vampiric descent. Noé lived with humans for much of his early life and acquired a certain fondness for them. Not many vampires have such fondness for humans and it sets Noé apart, for better and for worse, some vampires viewing him as dense and naive because of it.
Noé , while exceptionally smart and quick to react, views the world with what some would call rose-colored glasses. Noé knows right from wrong but often is enraptured by the world around him. Often, this leads others to worry about him and his ability to make sound and safe decisions. As seen time and time again, Noé becomes quickly enthralled with the new and exciting. Instead of balking at the unknown or an unexpected change, Noe faces with the eagerness of a child. Noé’s curiosity is both a redeeming trait of him — wanting to learn about others, the world — but also is problematic. Noé’s desire to learn more and puzzle through the new puts him in danger of others taking advantage of him. It makes him an exceptionally easy target for kidnapping despite his inordinate and inhuman strength. It also wouldn’t be the first time that he found himself lost, wandering off or getting sidetracked in his own thoughts.
Despite this, Noé is still exceptionally kind. Noé is a friend to many — first to Dominique and Louis when he was adopted by Teacher. Despite being ruthlessly teased by Louis, Noé still viewed him and Dominique as his “best friends” and as a found family. Noé would do anything for them — sleeping beside them, taking their advice, placing his trust in them. Louis’ death still effects Noé today, haunting him because he couldn’t do more. In a sense, Noé feels as if he’s failed a friend, a friend who is part of a family that showed him so much kindness, and that is unforgivable. Noé is still extremely close to Dominique — the latter allowing Noé to feed from her. They are closer than normal friends, perhaps due to the tragedies they both have faced. They fiercely protect each other and it is fair to say Noé would die for her.
And while Noé is a fierce friend and inquisitive young man, he can also be rash. With quick reflexes in the physical realm, he also is quick to respond and quick to make decisions. Often these decisions are formed from the heart and can get him in trouble, given the fact he hasn’t weighed the consequences fully. Noé’s heart is guided by his moral compass and his views on the world and those in it. Still... Noé has yet to see much of the world and its glory and this impulsive tendency will only lead him to more trouble.
Interestingly, Noé ‘s relationship with Vanitas doesn’t quite fit his norm. Unlike Noé ‘s relationship with Dominique, which is one of mutual trust, respect and fondness, Noé views Vanitas as a goddamn enigma. The good doctor baffles Noé. Noé is constantly stuck between his genuine desire to connect with others and help them and wanting to prickle at Vanitas’ vagueness and attitude. The two are often like oil and water — barely able to exist with one another. Vanitas is rash like Noé, but has a careful calculatedness that Noé lacks. This seems to be the root of many of their arguments. Noé also tends to see the good in others and has hope, whereas Vanitas speaks sharply and comments on the worst in others. Vanitas would rather use those around him as pawns, which Noé is absolutely baffled and appalled by. Even in the face of danger does Noé refuse to break from his personal morals, another contentious point between the pair. Still, Noé has sworn so to speak to be the human’s shield. While Noé views him as frustrating, there’s a certain bond forming between them - a friendship built upon interest and perhaps interests and similarities neither of them have yet to realize. After all, being abandoned and used by others can cause you to turn into Noé or grudging, like Vanitas.
POWERS/ABILITIES: - Noé is a vampire so he can superhuman strength and absurd agility. He can easily lift furniture and people. He can’t lift buildings or things of that magnitude, of course. He’s fast but isn’t superhero levels of speed - just noticeably faster than a human.
- Noé has the ability to view memories of a person when he drinks their blood. This is a power unique to the now extinct Archiviste vampire clan. Noé can’t pick the memories and they are often short and random with varying levels of vividness.
